Radio: KISS FM Breakfast show CSP

1) Read page 2. What is KISS FM's mission?

-to help educate and entertain podcast listners

2) Look at page 3. What is the target audience for KISS FM? As well as writing the key statistics from the media pack, try and suggest what psychographic groups would fit the KISS audience too.

- 15-34 year olds.

3) Now look at page 5 - The KISS network. How does KISS use digital media and technology to reach its audience?

- they use social media to help advertise their podcast for the breakfast show, they need to show who they are and what they do and why.

4) Now look at the other side of page 5. What content do KISS Fresh and KISSTORY offer and how can audiences access those stations?

- Kiss fresh lets you know on the latest news and KISSSTORY offer
Stories that have been shared on their website and read out loud on the podcast.

5) Read page 6. What are the different ways audiences can actively engage with the KISS radio brand?

- one way is to enquire them by their business email or another way os too go on their email and leave out a message hopefully they can answer the question

6) Are listeners to the KISS Breakfast show active or passive? You can argue this point either way - explain your opinion in your answer.

- i prefer active. The reason why i say this is because most younger listeners are still interested in podcasts and radio, trying to not make radio die and it also seems they would also want to take part and join in with Jordan And perri.

7) Now think about the clips you've watched or listened to of the KISS FM Breakfast show with Jordan and Perri. What audience pleasures are offered by the KISS FM Breakfast show? Use Blumler and Katz Uses and Gratifications theory here.

-They normally Offer lots of variety such as comedy. I say comedy
Because it seems they have a sense of humour in them even in the morning with their breakfast show and their humour can be used to attract younger listeners

8) How have audiences changed in terms of how they listen to music and radio since the 1960s?

-in the 1960s, they sound was unrecognisable. What i mean by this is back then, the sound quality wasn’t as great as 2024 but it still had news to talk about. Also back then, they weren’t anything interesting for the younger listeners so they had to listen to pirate radio but unfortunately BBC asked a company to ban pirate radio

9) How does the KISS FM Breakfast show contrast with Tony Blackburn's 1967 Radio 1 Breakfast show and the launch of BBC Radio 1?

- with tony’s introduction to the bbc radio, it was memorable to people who have listened to radio 2 because he was the first ever dj to perform for the forst ever government radio.
Now comparing to the kiss fm breakfast show. Its shows lots of intrest to the young people rather than the old people and also jordan and perri were already famous so it didn’t even make a difference

10) Use Stuart Hall's Reception theory to offer a preferred and oppositional reading of the KISS FM Breakfast show. For the preferred reading, why do fans love the show? On the oppositional side, why might someone criticise the show or not want to listen?

-

For a preferred reading of the show, fans might love it because it provides them with entertainment, music they enjoy, and a lively start to their day. They might appreciate the hosts' humor, the engaging content, and the sense of community it creates among listeners.

On the oppositional side, some critics might not enjoy the show because they could find the humor too crude or the content too superficial. They might criticize it for promoting certain values or behaviors they disagree with, or they might prefer more serious or intellectual content in the morning.

Reception theory highlights how different audiences can interpret the same media content in diverse ways based on their backgrounds, beliefs, and preferences. It's all about how individuals actively engage with and make sense of the media they consume.
