Water Aid advert Analysis



Denotation analysis:

There is a little bit of text and there are no positive colours behind the text and there is a child who looks like he is poor and is suffering. This looks very negative. The background appears to be a village which is sad for the families.


Connotation analysis:

This advert shows the slogan "Dig toilets, Not graves". The connotation of the bland colours suggests that this advert is very sad, negative and  hurtful. Referring to the slogan "Not graves" suggests that the advert is trying to tell us that they are losing people and they need help no matter how little it is. This adds negative and sad brand values and it makes you feel sorry for them and you would want to help them.

Analysis


The advert helps the audience help this charity and help understand what is going on out there as the colours reflect on sad and sorrowful child in the picture. In addition, The text "Not graves" has a deeper meaning of the sad and helpless boy looking straight at the camera suggests that we need to take action and help the inoccents's needs
