Introduction - Tatler Media pack

1) Look at the Tatler Media Pack. Go to page 2: how does the editor introduce the magazine?

- The editor uses colour scheme and a posh person to make the slideshow seem more exquisite

2) Now go to page 4 of the Media Pack. Focus on the print magazine (NOT tatler.com - the website). List the key demographic details: age, gender %, ABC1 % (social class), HHI (Household Income), % of those living in London and the South East. What do these demographic details suggest about the average Tatler reader?

- age: 41

- gender: female 73%

- ABC1: 83% upper class

- HHI: £261,572

- the reader who is reading about tatler may be posh and super rich. they could also be intested of how a posh person lives an everyday life.

3) Look at page 6. What do Tatler readers think about fashion? How much do they spend?

- £843 mllions pounds

- Most tatler readers are posh and super rich so they must be interested in clothing and fashion that are stupid rich. they mainly focus on the colthes and where it is from like balenciaga etc.

4) Go to page 10. What are the special editions of Tatler that run throughout the year? What does this suggest about the Tatler audience? What about the pyschographic audience group that best fits Tatler?

- i feel like the spa guide was limited edition because it shows how beauty models spend a day of their life. This suggest that the audeince whant to know how models who are well known do when they have a free day off. 

- Beauty & Cosmetic Surgery Guide, this tells us the audeince that they are also into make up and models that are famous and rich

Media language

1) What different examples of typography can you find on the cover of Tatler? What are the connotations of the serif and sans serif fonts?

- Serif and sans serif

2) How do the cover lines appeal to the Tatler target audience?

- the serif makes the title look posh and royal

3) What are the connotations of the Tatler colour scheme on this particular front cover?

- The colour scheme has pink blue and white so it means it has the connotations of dynamic images.

4) How is the central image designed to create interest in the magazine? Find three reasons for your answer. (E.g. the model, the mise-en-scene such as props, costume and make-up, body position, facial expression etc.)

-  The model is used to make the cover eye-catching to other customers and the props makes it seem it is a fashionista so it makes the readers think that this women is very rich because this dress is balenciaga. and finally, the costume and the make-up is what makes the beauty fashioner interested into reading the magazine and make them also Intrigued

Representations

1) What celebrities or famous people are mentioned on the cover? Why do you think Tatler put them on the cover?

- Emma weymouth, The Reason why Tatler put these certain types of celebrities is because they all have two things in common and that is to be rich and very posh.

2) What do the cover lines suggest about the lifestyle of rich people in the UK?

-  this suggests that the people of tatler have a very posh life, leading to a vibrant life.

3) Looking at the image and cover lines together, what different groups of people are represented on the cover and how are they represented? (E.g. men/women/rich people/race & ethnicity etc.) 

- I feel like women are most presented into Tatler magazines because they are known for having posh ladies in the magazines and also it is a stereotype that all women's face belong in the magazines because that is what they are meant for, to take pictures and make the producers money

4) Are there any stereotypes being reinforced or subverted? How? Why?

- i feel like they are in the middle because it is almost like women is good at taking pictures for magazines and making millions but otherwise, it is the stereotype that 'all women' can take pictures and look good instead of men taking pictures for tatler.

- The producers of tatler magazines

2) Tatler runs special issues on holidays, spa breaks, cosmetic surgery, watches and jewellery and private schools. What does this suggest about the magazine's representation of life in Britain?

- This represents the life of the wealthy posh people's everyday life.  

3) What audience groups might be offended or insulted by the front cover of Tatler?

-  lower of middle class people

4) Find three other front covers for Tatler from different months. What issues, subjects or people are regularly featured in Tatler?

- What is mostly issued in the tatler magazine is people. with people, it brings out the higher upper class behaviour of people and how they live their life. it also shows the diversity of the range of posh Tatler people that have been mentioned in the magazine.
