Newspapers: Daily Mirror - Language and Representations:

1) What political party does the Daily Mirror support? Is there any evidence to support this in the CSP pages we have studied?

- They supported the labour party. With evidence, it says on the daily mirror, back of the net meaning they went him to comeback to football commentary

2) How does the Daily Mirror represent Gary Lineker in the CSP pages? Why do you think they present him in this way?

- They represent him as a celebrity who is on maternity leave meaning he is not gone forever. They present him like this because he was a football commentator that was famous for being in the fifa games.

3) How is the BBC Chairman Richard Sharp represented in the Daily Mirror CSP pages? Look particularly at the use of images on the front cover and the section on Sharp on the inside page. Give detailed answers with evidence from the CSP pages

- He is represented as a leader who is holding responsibility of upholding and and protecting the independence of BBC

4) How are the Conservative Party represented in the Daily Mirror? Again, provide evidence from the CSP pages to support your answers

- .They presented him as their enemy, as daily mirror support the labour party they feel they have to attack them to bring their guard down so the labour party wins. Evidence of this is in the newspaper, it says get in, get out. What it means by that with linkerer, Generally, the newspaper will act as a voice for normal people (hence the old slogan 'Fighting For You') and go against the rich and powerful (like the Conservative Party in their row with Gary Lineker).

5) Read the main articles on the inside pages. How are different people, groups and organisations represented in the Daily Mirror? Does this reinforce or subvert the stereotypes we usually see in the media?

- In daily mirror, They present people based on their role or their classes. For example, with normal people being in middle or lower class, They would describe them as neutral, fairly more about they stories with crimes. With people who are higher class such as the royal family, they would brig them into politics. Overall, Daily mirror was created to have some humor in the paper to please the audience but it seems as the years pass on, it gains more control of more politics and hard news
